Coachella is held every April in California and focuses on rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music. This music and arts festival is a ginormous melting pot of fashion, A-list music, huge art structures, and tons of instagrammable moments. This two-weekend event would probably take the number one spot if this list were numbered. Everyone who is anyone attends this festival, and music icons perform, such as Beyonce, Calvin Harris, Drake, Justin Bieber, and many more popular artists. If you aren’t able to make the festival, it is usually live streamed for viewers to enjoy all of the festivities from the comforts of their own home.

ADE: Amsterdam Dance Event

ADE is a giant music festival that is centered around electronic dance music. For five days every October, the entire dance music industry invades Amsterdam’s music venues, conference halls, bars and streets. ADE has grown to become one of the biggest and most fun music festivals in the world. Afropunk started out as a DIY movement in the U.S., in response to feeling like an outsider and desiring to feel belonged. Mad Cool boasts an impressive selection of veteran and newly emerged indie, rock, and electronic talent. This festival is live, much anticipated, and full of hardcore fun.

UMF: Ultra Music Festival

UMF is held each year in Miami and is a huge music festival where over 160,000 people pack into a city park to party. The park is transformed into a huge dancefloor like no other, complete with a stage, lights, music, and booze. This festival is the holy grail for electronic dance music and big-room house fans. UMF used to be a one-day festival up until 2006, then it grew into a three-day weekend event. When attending Ultra, you will hear all types of A-list artists perform from Tiesto, Diplo, and David Guetta to Skrillex, Zedd, and Martin Garrix. Miami is a party city, so it’s the perfect place for this festival to be hosted.

If you’re into music, any one of these festivals are worth hitting up. If you’re like me, you’d choose a festival that is held in a city where there is much to see and do  Miami is known for its hot clubs, upscale restaurants, and packed out casinos, so quite naturally, UMF would be my first pick. After partying it up over the weekend at Ultra, you could stop in and spin the reels at one of their famous casinos. Of course, if it’s not your scene, you can always play from your laptop or smartphone on You can’t go wrong when in Miami for Ultra, since you get the music, booze, and club/casino nightlife. Music festivals have come a long way since the psychedelic wig-outs of the 1960’s, so if you’re not particularly into one genre or the other, you can find something on this list to appease you.
